Where to Stay in Ksamil: Choose Your Beach Base

Choose the central coves for swimming and dinner on foot, Sheshi Ugolini on the northern village edge, or the lagoon-facing lanes for a lake-view balcony. Compare a kitchenette stay with the cost of journeys from Saranda before choosing your base.

Key places

1. Village centre and the cove cluster

Choose the central lanes for the easiest beach-and-dinner routine. You can walk between the main beach cluster, restaurants and evening strolls. In July and August, the same central position can bring late music, busy pavements and full beach concessions. Ask which side of the building a room faces if quiet matters.

Another self-catering option: Dine Hotel is on Rruga Naim Frasheri. Its Apartment with Balcony lists a private kitchen, useful for preparing some meals. The listing flags an unpaved access road, so agree the arrival point with your driver and check the selected offer’s payment terms.

Also compare Lori and the southern coves

For a stay built around one cove rather than the central island-facing beaches, look southwest towards Lori Beach and the southern shoreline. Start with accommodation around Rruga Riviera by Lori and compare the route to that cove with the walk to the island-facing beaches. Choose the south for the beach you want to return to each morning, with central dinners as a walk out.

2. Sheshi Ugolini and the northern village edge

The northern village edge is worth comparing if you prefer to start each day around one chosen beach, then visit the central coves when you feel like a change. Sheshi Ugolini is inland from that coast: choose the room address and the beach you want together. Choose the centre instead if you want to move between the island-facing coves several times a day.

For New Crystal, Booking places the beach restaurant 700 metres from the hotel; that is not a measured route to the beach itself. Check the route and whether loungers, parasols and any transfer are included or charged separately.

3. Lagoon-facing lanes

The lagoon side suits a stay where the balcony is part of the evening: come back from the sea to a lake outlook, rather than choosing a room beside a beach bar. Ksamil’s eastern/northeastern lanes face the lagoon; the sea coves are on the other side of the village. This is a room-and-outlook choice, while the centre is the more direct choice for repeated beach-and-dinner walks.

Lake View Rooms Ksamil

Lake-view double rooms with balconies; Sunset Beach is a walk across the village.View on Booking

At Lake View Rooms, Rruga Liqeni, the lake-view double is distinct from the city-view categories. The property describes Sunset Beach as within a ten-minute walk and lists parking; this is its estimate, not a measured entrance route.

This search covers all Ksamil; it does not filter the three bases above. Use each property’s map to compare its actual position.

Beach costs and access

Public stretches and beach concessions have different arrangements; confirm the status of your chosen stretch locally before assuming you can use your own towel there. For a reserved setup, settle these inclusions together:

  • The number of loungers and whether a parasol is included.
  • Towels, drinks and facility access.
  • Any hotel-to-beach transfer.

July and August are the busiest beach months. Outside summer, confirm that your hotel, ferry, restaurants and beach services will operate. Ask for any lodging tax by category and amount on the itemised room total, separately from beach charges.

Albania uses the lek. If an amount is quoted aloud in “old lek”, ask for the written total in current lek before paying.

Getting there

Airport → Corfu port Bus to the port or taxi.
Illustrated passenger ferry.
International terminal → Saranda Allow for the operator’s check-in deadline before the ferry.
Illustrated local bus and taxi for the onward journey.
Saranda → Ksamil Bus toward Butrint or taxi.

Corfu airport, then the international port

Corfu’s blue bus Line 15 links the airport with the port via the Green Bus Station and San Rocco. Choose a Port service: some departures end at San Rocco. A taxi is another option for reaching your ferry’s international terminal.

Allow for baggage collection, waiting and the road transfer before the operator’s terminal deadline below. For a late flight, compare an overnight stay on Corfu with the next day’s ferries.

Corfu ferry arrival

The Corfu–Saranda ferry is an international crossing, and Saranda is the nearest port for Ksamil. Use Ionian Seaways’ dated timetable or your chosen operator’s booking page to compare the departure, vessel and ticket conditions. Check the ticket total and required border documents before booking; bring those documents to travel. Ionian Seaways asks passengers to reach the international terminal at least one hour before departure. Finikas Lines is another operator to compare. Ionian lists 30–45 minutes for a hydrofoil and 55–70 minutes for a passenger/car ferry. Departures are shown in local time: read the Corfu and Saranda columns using the clock for each port, not as one continuous clock. The sea crossing excludes check-in, border formalities and the onward journey to your Ksamil hotel.

From Saranda port to Ksamil

For the bus branch, the municipal transport page identifies the Sarandë–Butrint suburban route and Sheshi Muharrem Rrushuti (ekualipsi) as the suburban departure point. Confirm the Ksamil stop, fare and last return when you arrive. Allow for reaching the suburban stop from the ferry terminal.

For a taxi, the same municipal page locates the stand on Rruga Mitat Hoxha above the port. Ask for a port-to-property total with your luggage before departure. As a separate centre-origin comparison, Taxi Saranda publishes 3,000 ALL from Saranda centre to Ksamil, or 3,500 ALL for its late-night rate. Confirm the late-night hours, passenger/luggage allowance and pickup point. These centre-origin rates do not establish the total for pickup at the port.

Visiting Butrint

Butrint makes a cultural day trip south of Ksamil. The official online ticket portal lists these prices and conditions. ALL is the Albanian lek; converted equivalents use the dated reference rate in Sources .

Ksamil or Saranda?

Ksamil suits a village stay centred on the coves, with most beach days starting on foot. Saranda has a larger town’s shops, evening choice and the Corfu ferry terminal. It can suit a late ferry arrival or a trip with several different excursions, but a daily Ksamil beach routine adds road journeys. Compare room totals plus the number of transfers you will actually make. The Butrint-direction bus may make selected beach days practical if its timetable fits; repeated private transfers can outweigh a saving on a room. Neither town is assumed cheaper without a comparable room offer.

FAQ

Is Ksamil or Saranda a better place to stay?
Choose Ksamil for walks to the coves; compare a central kitchenette stay if you want to prepare some meals. Saranda puts the Corfu ferry and larger-town services nearby, but repeated trips to Ksamil add time and transport costs. Compare the whole stay, rather than assuming either town has lower room rates.
Do you need a car in Ksamil?
Not for a central hotel and the village’s main beach cluster. A car or taxi can help with hotels away from the centre, day trips and evenings in Saranda. Confirm parking and any beach transfer with the property before booking.
Are Ksamil’s beaches free?
Beach access differs by stretch. Ask locally which sections are public and whether loungers are optional there. If you want a reserved setup, ask the hotel whether it is included in your room rate or charged separately.
When should you visit Ksamil?
The beach season is concentrated in summer, with July and August busier than the shoulder months. Many properties and transport services are seasonal, so confirm that your hotel, ferry and planned restaurants are operating on your dates.
How can I get from Saranda port to Ksamil on a budget?
Check the municipality’s Butrint-direction suburban bus from Sheshi Muharrem Rrushuti, then confirm the current Ksamil stop and last departure locally. The municipal taxi stand is on Rruga Mitat Hoxha above the port; ask for the port-to-hotel total before departure. Taxi Saranda publishes 3,000 ALL from the town centre to Ksamil, but that is not a confirmed port-pickup quote.
How many nights should I stay in Ksamil?
For a short beach stop, three or four nights gives you time for two swimming days and a separate Butrint outing without fitting everything around arrival and departure. A week can suit a slower stay built around the coves. If you want a different town or excursion every day, compare Saranda before booking the whole week in Ksamil.
