Get your bearings

Marina Grande is the northern ferry port; Corricella and Terra Murata are on the eastern side. Chiaiolella is at the southwest end, with Faro farther north on the west coast. Chiaia and Chiaiolella are different beaches: compare access as well as distance. Beach guide .

Key places

1. Marina Grande

Stay here for a short visit or an early ferry: a Via Roma base saves an island transfer at each end of the trip. It also gives you a harbour-front routine of cafés, pizzerias and small shops between outings. This is the working arrival harbour, with Caremar’s ticket office and services , rather than a secluded beach setting.

L’Isola is about 400 metres from the ferry quay, at Via Roma 1. The room route is stairs only, without a lift; arrange luggage help if needed. Property details ; access information .

Don Pablo has a harbour-facing balcony and a double bed with bunks. Matilde and Il Postino are internal rooms with high, small windows; guests use the shared terrace for the view. Breakfast is advertised 08:00–10:00—ask about an alternative for an earlier ferry. Rooms ; terrace . Use the full property name: Postino Rooms on Via Cesare Battisti is a separate address. Separate listing .

Silurenza, west of the port, and Lingua, at the other end of Via Roma, offer nearby swimming. For long beach days, compare Chiaiolella below. Local beaches .

2. Corricella and Terra Murata

Choose Corricella for dinners among fishing boats and coloured houses, or Terra Murata and the upper streets for an elevated outlook. Plan the final stretch with your bags: a waterfront evening can end with stairs back to your room.

3. Chiaiolella and Ciraccio

Choose the southwest for a day that moves between the beach and meals around the small harbour. In the evening, the west-facing shore looks towards Vivara and Ischia. Chiaiolella's little harbour with sailing boats moored beneath tamarisks

The shallow sections and beach facilities suit a family beach plan, but the local guide notes afternoon winds and rougher water on this coast. Free sand and paid lidos coexist; ask the named lido for its sunbed/umbrella price and inclusions. Chiaiolella and Ciraccio .

4. West coast and Faro

Choose this side when a garden or patio is somewhere you want to spend part of the day, with a cove outing rather than a harbour-front base. Pozzo Vecchio and Faro farther north are separate settings; La Casa sul Faro is away from the beach, so plan its beach outings and dinners around that address.

5. Inland stays

Choose an inland property when its pool, garden or private space is part of the holiday. Plan the evening meal and return around the address: these stays offer time at the hotel rather than harbour-doorstep convenience.

Ferries and getting around

For Naples, check whether your ticket departs from Molo Beverello or Porta di Massa. ANM’s Alibus serves both port areas at €5 for a single journey; allow time between landing at the airport and reaching the quay. Alibus stops and fare .

Caremar one-way passenger base fares, checked 5 October 2026. Separately listed: €3.50 Procida landing charge; 12% advance-purchase supplement, minimum €1; €1 per online ticket. Use the final quote for the sailing, passenger and baggage. Caremar tariff .

The landing charge is collected through the crossing, not calculated per hotel night. Ask the property for any separately payable accommodation charges in its final quote; a complete current municipal lodging-tax schedule has not been verified here.

Pozzuoli can suit a mainland itinerary, but include the land transfer when comparing cost. Gestour’s displayed sailings on 5 October 2026 included a 40-minute Pozzuoli–Procida crossing; use the duration for the boat you select. Departures .

Inland staysMatch the address to its nearest useful stop and arrange the evening return.

The cited EAV sheets are effective 1 October 2026. C2 lists 22:15 from Terra Murata → 22:30 at the port; check current notices before a ferry connection. Buy island tickets through an authorised seller rather than assuming bank-card contactless works on every bus. EAV index ; ticket channels . For luggage, compare a pre-arranged transfer or quoted taxi, including where it can stop.

Evening plans: check the date, direction, mainland port and operator before reserving dinner. A late Naples → Procida boat does not prove a late Procida → Naples boat. SNAV advertises year-round service, with timetables to check for the date. Route . A mainland final night may suit an early flight better.

Bringing a vehicle: the published 30 March–15 October 2026 restriction covers non-residents’ cars, motorcycles and mopeds, subject to listed exceptions. A hotel booking alone is not a general exemption; the dates do not establish the 2027 rules. Compare mainland parking for the whole stay, collection hours and transfer to the correct quay. Official decree .

Before choosing your room

Compare the final total, booked sleeping arrangement and cancellation terms. Settle the entrance route and arrival time before paying for a non-refundable stay; the individual hotel notes above identify the material stair, room and seasonal differences.

During your stay: Palazzo, a boat trip or another island

Palazzo d’Avalos, the former prison above Corricella, has a local seller’s self-guided offer from €8 and guided visit from €13 per adult, about one hour . These offers were checked on 5 October 2026, not universal admission tariffs or confirmed places; a guide is not required for every advertised visit.

The same local seller advertises a two-hour boat trip from Marina Corricella with a swim stop, from €35 per person . Check the selected date, departure point and weather policy.

For Ischia , check the operator’s crossing and return timetable rather than assuming a fixed 15–30-minute connection. The Naples itinerary can help with the mainland portion. Take water, sun protection and suitable footwear for beach visits and uphill walks, and watch traffic in the narrow lanes.

FAQ

How many nights should I stay on a first visit?
Our recommendation is two nights for an unhurried first look, or three when you want a proper beach day as well as the historic centre. One night can work for a short introduction; Marina Grande reduces the amount of transfer planning at either end. These are itinerary suggestions, not minimum-stay rules.
Which area should I choose for a first trip with a baby or stroller?
Start by comparing the Chiaiolella harbour-and-promenade area for a beach stay, or Marina Grande for a short ferry-led visit. Then verify the complete route into the specific room. Neither an area label nor a ground-floor category guarantees step-free access.
Is a hotel near Chiaia a good choice for daily beach trips?
It can be, provided stairs suit your group. The local beach guide counts 186 steps on the Piazza Olmo route; the alternative from Piazza San Giacomo via Via dei Bagni also ends in steps. Ask which access your accommodation expects you to use. This is different from choosing a property beside the Chiaiolella promenade. Chiaia access .
Which part of Procida is cheapest?
There is no reliable cheapest district for every date and room type. Compare actual totals for your stay: a lower room rate can lose its advantage after taxis, breakfast or a paid view upgrade. The published hotel starting rates above are examples with stated limitations, not an average price for the surrounding area.
Can I stay on Procida in winter?
Yes, it is worth considering for a non-beach break: SNAV advertises Naples–Procida sailings throughout the year. Choose accommodation that confirms it is operating on your dates, and make the evening meal and return journey part of the plan. Do not book a winter stay solely for an outdoor pool shown in summer photographs. Year-round ferry route .
Should I choose Chiaiolella specifically to visit Vivara?
Vivara reopened for guided visits on 28 August 2026. The published autumn programme runs 25 September–1 November, on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 09:30, with online booking. Chiaiolella is useful for reaching the meeting point at the start of the bridge on Via Santa Margherita. Arrive at least 15 minutes early and wear trekking shoes. Published admission is €10 for adults, €3 for ages 8–12, and free up to age 7 with a booked free ticket and an accompanying adult. Check the official calendar and access rules for your date; this is not a confirmation of available places. Autumn programme .
Do I pay a tourist charge when staying on Procida?
Allow for the ferry operator’s landing charge where applicable, and inspect the accommodation’s final price breakdown for any additional charges. Do not interpret a landing levy as proof that nothing can be collected at the hotel. Caremar’s published tariff and the exact accommodation offer answer different parts of the question. Ferry tariff .
